There is no way you actually compared to the rent prices with countries like Thailand, South America etc… yea it’s definitely higher than some countries but for a metropolitan city, it’s not too much if you compare with other metropolitan cities like New York. Plus Dubai is 100% safer than the places you mentioned which is worth paying more for rent and expenses imo.
